A Study On The Semantic Combination And Syntactic Function Of "A_ Single + V" Structure

In this paper, all 3216 phrases with adjective-verb construction from Peking CCL corpus are selected as the research objects; do research on the semantic compound and syntactic function. Then we label the adjective and verb items with corresponding semantic categories and make mutual option analysis. It intends to get the preferential option rank that with adjective semantic category inclines to select which verb semantic category.Eighteen adjective semantic categories are classified, including "attitude/mentality/intellectual/attribute/value/representation/temperature/time/speed/f requency/intensity/degree/status/appraisal/quantity/space/range/direction". And four verb semantic categories are further divided, including "action/activity/status/phenomenon". There are also some sub-classes.This paper studies which the adjective/verb semantic categories select which verb/adjective semantic categories respectively and reaches the preferential option rank.18 kind and 138 subcategories semantic compound modes are summarized,on the basis of analysis on semantic categories selection.This paper also studies the syntactic function of the structure "A+V", in both of syntactic feature and syntactic position. This paper also studies the relevance of syntactic features and semantics combination modes, on the basis of analysis on semantic combination modes and syntactic function.In general, this study from the internal and external syntactic function semantic combination from two aspects of "A+V" by comprehensive analysis, not only the construction of A single and V semantic classification system, analyzes the each other between semantic requirements and constraints, to excavate the adjectives and verbs meaning more close combination between class rules, and summed up the "semantic combination mode of A single+V", and analyzes the internal relations of semantic combination mode of the syntactic function and the internal structure of the. But because of the restrictions of time and capacity, study is comparatively shallow. This paper also has a considerable number of content, especially the interaction oflexicalsyntactic and semantic. And the study on lexicalization of structure "A Sjngie +V" is also urgent to find.
