Investigation And Research On Yi Language Use In Slope Township Of Jianxi County

Yi people are the descendant of the ancient residents in ancient Kangdian Land. Nanpanjiang Basin is one of the oldest areas where the ancestors of Yi people lived. There are a great number of Yi people in Jianshui, while most of them can’t speak Yi Language and switch to Chinese dialects. Potou Township is located in the south of Jianshui County, which is a remote, economically backward, and inconvenient region. There are Han, Yi, Hani, Miao, Dai people living here, and Yi people have the largest population of the ethnic minorities. Nalou chieftain’s administration building in Huixin-one of the Yi chieftain’s administration buildings in China-is located here. There are still the Yi people’s traditional living houses. Potou is an area where Yi culture is protected well in Jianshui County. Selecting such a typical area is important to investigate the language use and language attitude of local Yi people and protect language and culture of Yi people in Jianshui. This paper selects Dashidong Village and Potou Village as investigation points to get a lot of first-hand information and acquire the whole situation of language mastery with the field investigation and interviews, participatory observation methods. And by the questionnaire data statistics, we analyze the situation, reasons, language attitude and features of language use in different occasions. Then judge and predict language ecology of Yi people in Potou Township.This paper is divided into six parts and four chapters.The introduction part mainly illustrates the research origin and significance, research trends, research methods, and the situation of investigation points.The first chapter introduces the current situation and reasons of language use in Dashidong Village, and analyze the language shift of Dashidong villagers’group.The second chapter deeply introduced the current situation and reasons of language use in PoTou Village.The third chapter analyzes the language attitude of two villages, and then synthesizes the feature of language attitude among local Yi people.From the perspective of language ecology, the forth chapter analyze the ecological environment of Yi language and make predications.Epilogue part made a conclusion on the basis of the above.
