This paper is designed to discuss about the different types of brotherhood in the method of anthropological study of kinship. These types of brotherhood influence both political and religious systems and social structure. From fifteenth century to twentieth century, Chief Yang kept their theocracy for about six hundreds years. The governess was lasted in the mode that elder brother takes for political power as the younger brother for religious power. The relationship of polity and religion is contained in the brotherhood. Sherry Ortner tried to show that political system was founded as the brothers’competitive relationship in her research about Sherpas. However, the facts in Choni give us a different answer. The author of this paper analyzed the classical mode from three aspects which are villages, temples and the system of polity and religion.Neither lineages nor ancestor worship couldn’t be found in the villages. People do sacrifices to divine mountains for the purpose of prosperity which shape four different organizations including household, Cuowa, Shaney and village. Household is assembled by the Shaney’s myth of brothers. As part of the world believing in Tibetan Buddhism, Choni society is divided into sacred world and secular world which are dependent to each other. Monks seek for salvation, but his body belongs to the secular world. On the other hand, secular villagers seek for a happier future in next life with the merit of donation to monks. Brotherhood links the sacred world to the secular world like a pipeline of salvation. The political power of chief is related to the divine mountain. The largest divine mountain in Choni is Baishiya Mountain which holds the property of land. The system of the divine mountains is constructed into feudalism.Chief Yang with military Charisma succeeded to become the dominator by his battle achievements. He obtained the property of land through his sacrifice to Baishiya Mountain. With the donations of land to temples he was also the largest donator. Besides, Chief Yang obtained clan charisma being descendant of an old king. The leader of Chanding Temple, which is the head of all the other temples, held the religious power of Choni. The brotherhood between the chief and temple leader confirms the theocracy. With the observation above, the conclusion comes to that brotherhood is the principal axis of Choni society in which brothers plays different roles to integrate the society.
