On The "Tianxiangshu" Of Kizil Frescoes

<Heaven Picture> is a special fresco theme of Kizil Grottoes.It depicted the Buddhist nirvana by painting the Buddha’s such as the sun god, the moon god, the wind deity and the Kimnara.Different to traditional Buddhist Painting, which is so stereotyped and complicated, the <Heaven Picture> shows the vitality and creativity of Kizil Grottoes by its special character images and imaginative painting language.It explain the unique characteristics of Qiuci Grottoes.The relevant research about <Heaven Picture> always comes from western country and the Middle East. The research materials in our own country are rare. There is no paper state the exact time and the reason of the appearance of <Heaven Picture>. It affected directly or indirectly by Greek culture, the Persian culture, the Gandhara culture, and developed to its unique mythological figure images.In this paper, I take the 38 th and the 171 th grotto of of Kizil Caves for example, through comparison and research, feelings and experiences from painting copy, try to discuss the special art language of <Heaven Picture> which is affected by different cultures. As well as the characteristics of figures in different periods, and also, the enlightenment it can bring to contemporary chinese figure painting...
