A Study Of The "Escape" Complex In Le Clerzio 's Novels

Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio,the winner of the Noble Prize in 2008,wrote many novels in his life time,the main characters and their behavior reflects the relatively obvious Complex of escape. The author intends to adopt the way of close reading, by Le Clezio as the text research object, uses western escapism theory as the theoretical support, and analyses the Complex of escape in Le Clezio’s novels.The first parts is the introduction part,mainly introduces the details of the creations of Le Clezio as well as the significance and academic value of the research,and introduces the research contents and methods in the research of the escape complex in Le Clezio’s novels.The second parts divided as four Chapters.Chapter one mainly focuses on the theoretical support of the research of the escape complex in Le Clezio’s novels..The first section analyses the core connotation of Yifu Duan’s escapism theory and the reason why this paper selects Yifu Duan’s escapism theory as the theoretical support for the analysis of escape complex in Le Clezio’s novels is the two fit in escape and return. The second section analyses the vein combing of the escape motif literary development in the west and the theoretical support of the research of the escape complex in Le Clezio’s novels.Chapter expounds reasons of the escape complex in Le Clezio’s novels from three different angles.The first section analyses the excessive pursuit of material in the modern western society that results in the alienation of the real world and discuses the childhood experience of war and seeing reality in Africa and so on left a deep imprint in Le Clezio’s mind.The second section analyses the theory of the falling of the French literature and the cultural background of the escape complex in Le Clezio’s novels.The third section analyses pursuit for non-mainstream culture as British culture, Morris island culture, African culture and so on bring the possibility of multiple cultures for Le Clezio.Chapter three excavates the basic connotation of the escape complex in Le Clezio’s novels:the escape of the civilization;the escape of the homeland;the escape of the vanity;the escape of the culture,also study how Le Clezio’s escape complex embodied in the text.Chapter four discusses the contradiction of the escape complex in Le Clezio’s novels.From two angle that the protagonist in Le Clezio’s novels both escape from the modern civilization, but think that escape is a way to find the world;both have fled their homes, but think that escape is a way to go home,analyzes and discusses the contradiction of the escape complex in Le Clezio’s novels, thus summarizes the realistic meaning of the escape complex in Le Clezio’s novels.The third part, conclusion, summarizes the full thesis.
