Since China implemented reform and opening policy in 1979, communications in art between the west countries and china have been vivid, especially in the 20’c80s. In the field of painting, the painters were also subjected to the baptism of Western art thoughts and agitation. The Chinese ink figure painting as an emerging discipline also continues the excellent gene of thousands of years of traditional Chinese painting. Lu Chen was one of the leaders of Chinese ink figure painting at that time. He deeply explored the western at the time of the visual art thought and strived to excavate the essence of Chinese traditional art. Through these efforts, he created a new road for Chinese ink figure painting. At the age of 50, in 1985, he finished two seemingly very different works<Seize the water moon> and<The mongolian wrestling dance> in style. However, these two pieces of works just reflected the thinking and precipitation after Mr. Lu’s exploration between the traditional Chinese art and the Western vision thoughts at that time. In those works, he tried to combine the three concepts in the western design art, namely, the plane composition, the color composition and the three-dimensional composition and the essence of traditional Chinese art. That is re examining the inherent tension, texture and the harmony with contradictory oppositions from the complex combination by the basic form elements:point, line, surface, circle, square, triangle and so on. At the same time, he went deep into the Chinese traditional art with emphasis on the grow of ink and water, so as to complete the transformation of his own painting ideas and practice. Kandinsky is an important artist in twentieth Century. His theory of artistic language is profound and penetrating, and has a far-reaching influence on later generations. In this paper, through the summary of Lu chen and Kandinsky’s art theory, I try to analyze the two works of Lu chen from the perspective of their theories. In order to see the application of the western constitution theory and how did he stick in the traditional context of "vivid charm". At last, it is also the complete course and summary of the construction of my own thinking of art in this three years of graduate study.
