| Jewish merchants’ rise in the modern economy structure is a notable phenomenon, and the main reason of their success has been debated. I think that the business network that Jews established played an important role in their wealth empire, it was like the core of the wealth empires. Except the research of network, the effect of impact business areas should be paid attention too. Frankfurt in Germany, Warsaw in Poland, and Amsterdam in the Netherlands will be focused on in this article. Based on these information, how did the Jewish business elites’ merchant network work in the period from the 1750 s to the early 19 th century will be discussed. Because it was just the beginning of the European economy revolution, therefore, this article intends to research Jewish businessman network in macro environment, and discuss how did Jewish businessman deal with the changing world in this period.This article is divided into three chapters. First chapter is about the Schlesinger family(a Jewish businessman family)and Their business base- Frankfurt/Oder and engaged in textile trade in the region of Jewish businessman groups. They took Frankfurt/Oder as a starting point, to expand their trade network to Leipzig, the port city of Konigsberg and Danzig. Baltic sea port city of Konigsberg and Danzig were important transit point in Schlesinger family business networks, through this business network, the Jews can even seeking business opportunities with Christians. The second chapter mainly studies the Jews munitions supply trade network, Warsaw was the center of this network. The network across the international border very often, and there were both cooperation and competition between Jewish businessman. They nearly monopolized European military supplies. The third chapter studies the key factor of Jewish merchant network: bills of exchange,which had a big influence in the network, played an important role in helping them expanding the business network throughout Europe. |
