The research on Erya had never stopped ever since it came out. Lots of scholars in later ages imitated its stylistic rules and layout and contents to compile their own works. The amount of these imitations presents a splendid view that they are collectively called "Qunya" Pianya, by ZHU Mouwei in Ming Dynasty is one of Qunya. Its layout, word-catching and contents all echo to Erya. Except Chapter One Shigu and Chapter Two Shixun, Pianya specially includes five chapters to list the names, palaces, clothes, food, objects, sky, land, grass, plants, insects, fishes, birds, beasts and so on which fully shows the inheritance of the annotation to Ming Wu in the study of Erya. In addition, Pianya is also a dictionary which collects polysyllabic words, especially disyllabic words of Ming Wu. This is quite rare compared with Ming Wu inclusions in other Qunya. So Pianya is especially significant to the development of the research on the study of Erya, Ming Wu and Xungu.This thesis proceeds with the related Ming Wu in Pianya and base on the theory of Ming Wu Xunshi to analyze and interpret how ZHU Mouwei displayed its semantic field when writing Pianya, how to treat the relation between Ming and Shi and the value of his way of annotation to Ming Wu as well as its disadvantage.This thesis is mainly divided into the following parts,Introduction:This part introduces the life of ZHU Mouwei, the formation of the book and its contents and stylistic rules and layout. Besides, it also presents the general situation of the research on Pianya and the value and method of studying this book.Chapter One:the research on the related Ming Wu semantic field in Pianya. First, this chapter elaborates people’s ideas of the definition and features of Ming Wu. Then, it analyzes the definition of Ming Wu in Pianya and discusses the forms and the system form of different kinds of Ming Wu in the book. At last, this chapter concludes the types of the semantic fields of related Ming Wu in Pianya.Chapter Two:the research on the relations between Ming and Shi of Ming Wu in Pianya. This chapter reveals ZHU Mouwei’s research on the names of Ming Wu and the way of naming or image taking of Ming Wu. Meanwhile, this chapter also discusses the reasons for synonym of Ming Wu and the relations between Ming Wu and ancient culture of production and life in Pianya.Chapter Three:the research on the ways of annotation to Ming Wu in Pianya. This chapter generalizes the annotation ways of Ming Wu in Pianya, including "Explaining different objects with the same name"、"Summarizing one object with a two word name", writing analogies, indicating definitions. Then this chapter also illustrates the terms used in annotation to Ming Wu, including "Zhe, Ye", "Yue, Wei, Weizhi", "Ru" and "Shu". At the end, it concludes the achievements and the shortcomings of the annotation to Ming Wu in Pianya.Conclusion:this part summarize the whole thesis and indicates the value and the shortcomings of Pianya.
