White Deer Plain is not only a classic work of Chinese Contemporary Literature, but also the only full-length novel of the author--- Zhongshi Chen. It’s Chen’s fastigium of his writing career, and triggered a wild attention and study climax. Many researchers felt very strange to the appearance of White Deer Plain. What’s more, they also found it had had a deep difference with the author’s other works. However, neither did they have a further research, nor did they discover an inseparable connection with Chen’s earlier and medium-term creation. Even in the progress to study Chen’s development of creation, most studies focus on the works themselves in different periods, not to reveal the relevance among them. Therefore, this paper is aimed at analyzing and uncovering the relation between the earlier stage’s novels and White Deer Plain as an evidence, explore the cause of emergence and Chen’s accumulation and preparation for it, to demonstrate White Deer Plain is absolutely not in an isolated position, roaring across the horizon. The whole paper is divided into three parts. The first part starts with living, to explore the decisive effect on Chen’s creation based on his living experience which makes his creation hold a reflect on tradition and modern from the beginning to the end. The second part starts with ideology, Chen’s thought changed gradually which leads his creation changed too. This variation, however, has both positive and negative aspects, to explore the cause of the variation and analyze the new phenomenon that emerges in the work, it is the new phenomenon enter straightly into White Deer Plain. The third part starts with art, by means of analysis through creation method, structure, and language, to observe how different periods’works become perfect increasingly, until as ripe as White Deer Plain.
