Design And Research Of Peer-to-Peer Virtual Learning Community Based On JXTA

The rapid development in internet technology has a wider role to play in education. InChina, many cyber schools and educational websites are established, providing chieflylearning resources, course discussion, academic exchanges on distance learning, but suchestablishment is not learning-oriented Internet community in its real sense. Virtual learningcommunity provides participants with a learning environment, which breaks the limit oftime and space. By collaborative interaction and resource sharing, participants form socialknowledge, promote culture exchange, and consummate humanities. Virtual learningcommunity has become an important way to develop learning society.At present, most Virtual learning community and Internet learning environment arebuilt using a client/server architecture which could cause burden in the server with theincreased learners, so the learning couldn't happen normally in the community. In thisthesis, the author makes use of the technique of Peer-to-Peer into the virtual learningcommunity, making it adapted the current distribute education trend , This provide us anew kind of thinking of resolve the existent problem in current network education realm .First of all, this thesis begin with the origin of the virtual learning community, explainthe related concept such as community, virtual community, learning community ,describeseveral meanings of virtual learning community, analyze the theory of virtual learningcommunity and the direction of it. Next, the thesis is not only introduced the concept ofPeer-to-Peer and JXTA, but also explained the advantage of these technologies to built thevirtual learning community. The author built a Peer-to-Peer virtual learning communitybased JXTA refer to a distributed educational system in abroad. At last, it describes thepartly function of this system by myJXTA, it also takes an example for built internetlearning environment by JXTA.
