This thesis study the Design, Synthesis, Properties and Applications of 9-(cyclohepta -trienylidene) fluorene (9-CHF) derivatives and blue OLED.Part 1: Novel absorption and fluorescence pH sensors based on 9-(cyclohepta -trienylidene) fluorene (9-CHF) derivatives have been prepared by well known Suzuki coupling reaction. 2,7-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-9-CHF, 2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-7-(naphthanlen -1-yl)-9-CHF have the abilities to response at both low (-1.0â†'2.0) and high (8.2â†' 13.1) pH values and can be utilized in absorption, fluorescence, and wavelength ratiometric methods. They might be compliments glass pH electrodes for pH measurement. More interestingly, 2,7-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-9-CHF exhibts violet emission in low pH value range, blue emission in middle pH value range, and green emission in high pH value range, which presents a fluorescence-color tunable pH sensor.Part 2: A series of Ï€-conjugated compounds and related Si-compounds with blue photoluminescent properties have been prepared. Structures of products were confirmed by NMR spectra and MS. Photoluminescent properties are discussed. Based on luminescent properties, these Si-compounds might find utility as emitters in OLED displays.
