With China's rural economic development, increasing employment diversity, migrant workers moving into cities is no longer an individual phenomenon. The intensive farmland, cooperation, large-scale cultivation has also become possible. To develop suitable for large area, for unified management of water-saving irrigation Distributed Intelligent Control System has become a top priority. In foreign countries, the urban green space Distributed Control System has been successfully applied, but has not the relevant reports which are applied to farmland. At the nation level, although some automated irrigation control systems have been introduced, but the results are not ideal, most of them are idle, failed to fully play its rightful role. There is no precedent which applied to agriculture. Therefore, in 2002, the Agriculture Development Office of Shandong Provincial Agricultural Development Department issued a project plan which carried by Shandong Water Polytechnic College. If the Distributed Control System of Water-saving Irrigation is for the national conditions, reliable performance and low-cost, it will landscape the living environment, protect of the source of life for us. In a developing country which economic is in rapid speed and water resources is relative shortage, this system no doubt has great economic and social significance. The project is based on the matured industrial DCS (Distributed Control System) architecture, and it establishes a central control system to control a number of sub-stations. The control main station is configured with a set of automatic weather collection system to automatically observe the local rainfall, evaporation and other meteorological indicators. And in accordance with the demand of green crops, the system runs automatically scientific decision-making, which decides whether to implement the irrigation process. Each sub-station will be responsible for the crop, soil and other information transmitted to the main station, at the same time the sub-stations share the weather information and accept the control orders from the main station to complete the operations of the opening or close of the pump motors, solenoid valve and other equipment. This project includes the following main establishments: the small automatic weather station which provides the basis for decision-making systems; the control sub-stations which are relatively independent units, the central control station which coordinates the operation of the various sub-stations, the communications network to transmit the information of the weather station, the sub-stations, the main station; the expert decision-making system software to implement intelligent control system fully automatic control. The water-saving irrigation Distributed Intelligent Control System has the following features: automatic completion of irrigation process without human intervention; emergency network for remote control and monitoring, to expand the scope; in order to meet different users, the system is flexible, diverse, economical and has high universality. The research on Distributed farmland, green space irrigation control system has applied to practice and achieved fruitful results. The system can be based on soil and weather information to achieve automatic control, also set up a long-distance network, including a variety of remote control, emergency manual control mode; it has truly realized the all-weather, all-region automation and control operations. The introduction from the stable and reliable method of industry control to farmland provides a good environment with "water, fertilizer, gas and heat" for the crop production. It not only increases the output and income, but also saves expenditure of manpower, water and electricity, which is the inevitable direction for the future agriculture. With the development of economy, the state of "three agricultural" inputs are constantly increasing. More and more migrant workers are moving to cities. The management of farmland will embark on the road of large-scale production. Irrigation intelligent control system is becoming more demanding, and the Distributed Intelligent Control System for irrigation will have good prospects for promotion and application.
