As an important device of industry production, large-scale boilers are widely used in electric power, chemical industry, metallurgy and other fields. For safety reasons, the flame status of the boiler should be detected correctly. Otherwise, unintended explosion with serious consequences to both personnel and equipment will occur. Therefore, the flame in the burner has to be continuously monitored by the Furnace Safeguard Supervisory System (FSSS). As a standard component of FSSS, flame detector can monitor the state of the flame inside the boiler in the form of electric signal. However, the existing flame detectors are usually bulky, expensive and not so intelligence. According to the demands of flame detector application, a scheme of flame monitoring system based on fieldbus is put forward in this dissertation, besides, the software and hardware which is related to the scheme mentioned above are detailed designed. Taking the needs of the institute, market conditions and other factors into account, ATMEGA64L is used in this design to achieve data acquisition and processing, key control, digital display, current output and relay control etc. Meanwhile, in order to improve the reliability of the system, fault-tolerant control, data processing algorithm and power down protection are used in this design. In addition, this system has the RS-485 serial communication interface supporting Modbus protocol. It can realize the distributed control between the PC and the flame detectors through the monitoring interface which is based on Visual Basic 6.0, so as to provide a reliable basis for the decision-making of on-site production. The real running indicates that the flame-detected control system we designed is compact, inexpensive and can achieve field data processing through the fieldbus, therefore, it improve the system automation and reduce the labor intensity effectively.
