In recent years, with the rapid development of micro-electronics technology, computing technology and low-power wireless communication technology, a wireless micro-sensor unit with the data processing unit and the wireless communication module integrated appears. Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) consisting of the large number of these micro wireless sensor nodes is data-centric wireless self-organizing network. It's a new information acquisition and processing technology. In the military, science and technology, environmental protection, health care, and transportation fields, wireless sensor network has broad application prospects and high value. Wireless sensor network has become the hot research in the current IT field.WSN nodes have limited power, computing and communications capability; can not replace the power supply. The design of energy efficient routing protocols and algorithms in order to adapt to the characteristics of sensor networks, maximizing network lifetime is sensor networks research priority. Clustering-based routing protocol is in favor of data fusion technology and the application of distributed algorithms for large-scale deployment of network. LEACH protocol is an adaptive clustering algorithm. As a traditional clustering algorithm, there is no adequate consideration of the node energy consumption and data fusion efficiency.In this paper, with the analysis of large number of clustering-based routing protocol analysis, we propose a Clustering Algorithm based on Correlation of Sensed Data (CACD). The traditional clustering protocols such as LEACH protocol have a better improvement by the CACD. CACD algorithm first divides the sensor monitoring area into several different zones with the same data based on correlation of sensed data. There is a high correlation of the data sensed in one zone. And then each zone with same data clusters and selects the nodes with the most residual energy as cluster heads. The sensor nodes in different zones do not communicate with each other, the zone with more than one clusters will cluster again by the cluster heads, and to ensure that each zone has only one cluster head to communicate with the base station. CACD algorithm clusters according to the correlation of sensed data of the nodes, each cluster node with the same or similar data, can be regarded as redundant data. So that the cluster heads for data fusion have the greatest degree of data fusion and reduce the redundant data transmission.Compared with the LEACH protocol in theoretical analysis and simulation, CACD clustering structure is more reasonable and the network has better performance, CACD algorithm can reduce the energy consumption of sensor nodes communication and balance the network energy load. CACD can prolong the lifetime of the whole network.
