Landslide is one of the most common disasters in the nature. Great attention mustbe paid due to its wide distribution, frequent occurrence and great loss it brings. Aslandslides are inevitable, it is important to take precautionary measures to reduce theloss to a minimum. Therefore, investigating the evolving rules of landslide as thefoundation of obtaining measures is of great value. This work is supported by the Specialized Research Fund for the Doctoral Pr-ogram of Higher Education of China (No.20120191120048). The2-D and3-D sp-ringdeformble analytical models of blocks are established to study the motion ofthe sliding body. The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, by using the spring-deformable analytical model of sliding body whichconsidering the inhomogeneity of velocity and deformation, the accumulation and therelease of the deformation energy and the friction of the slide bed during sliding, thevelocity and deformation of sliding body during the whole process are obtained as wellas the maximum displacement and the sliding time. An example is adopted to validatethe model by comparing with experimental results and the simulation results ofdiscrete element software UDEC.Secondly, considering the space complexity of landslides, a three-dimensional,two-way model of the spring-deformable blocks is proposed to obtain the sliding time, the maximum displacement and velocity. During modeling, constructive assumptionsare introduced aiming to study the internal interaction and the motions towardsdifferent directions. The formulas of acceleration, velocity and displacement arededuced by the mechanical analysis of specific columns and the equation of motion ofthe sliding body. A3-D landslide example is introduced to verify the model bycomparing the results with the simulation results of discrete element software3DECand experimental results.Thirdly, based on present analytical model, the software Visual Basic is adoptedto compile calculating program (HSYGFX). The2-D and3-D dynamic runoutvisualizations of landslide instability and curve of the velocity of sliding body variedwith time are achieved by the program. The last, the program is applied to analyze the sliding time, the maximum velocityand displacement of the sliding body of Jiweishan landslide in WuLong, Chong Qing, China. By comparing with existing software simulation results, the model of thespring blocks is validated.
