The construction of recreation plants landscape, especially the construction of waterfront recreation ground plants landscape becomes more and more important in order to meet the needs of the recreationists. In the waterfront city, waterfront plant landscape is an important component of waterfront landscape. In this paper, the national and international development tendency of construction of waterfront landscape and the application of the system of landscape evaluation are reviewed. The development of waterfront recreation ground in the Pearl River Delta Region are studied phytocoenology; ecology and aesthetic in present paper.22polts,66quadrats were selected from the cities of Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhuhai, Shenzhen, Jiangmen, Zhongshan. etc. The situation of waterfront plant landscape and plant configuration in the Pearl River Delta Region were surveved. The main results are as follows:The plant species used in waterfront plant landscape of Pearl River Delta Region was summarized. Plants are divided into trees, shrubs, lianas, herbs and hydrophyte. There are227species of plants belonging to172genera and82families in the waterfront plant landscape of Pearl River Delta Region.70species of plants belonging to51genera and28families are trees;41species of plants belonging to41genera and29families are shrubs;50species of plants belonging to40genera and33families are lianas;49species of plants belonging to34genera and24families are hydrophyte and17species of plants belonging to16genera and13families are herbs.146species of plants are mesophyte. Lianas are mainly shade-tolerant hygrophilous plants and colorful.44species of plants are aquatic plant.Psychophysical evaluation methods SEB was used to evaluate waterfront plant landscape in the Pearl River Delta Region. Results show that three plant configurantions are good ones. The first type is trees-shrubs-groundcovers from landscape spatial of waterfront green, the second type is trees-shrubs-groundcovers from ftom landscape spatial of bank, the third type is the multilayer type from landscape spatial of waterways.According to the research results, the good plant configuration mode which accords with the ecological and aesthetic principles were selected. The results will be useful guidance and reference to the future plant landscape design of the waterfront plant landscape in the Pearl River Delta Region.
