In this paper, ECMWF Re-analyses data is used to calculate thewave age, the non-dimensional significant wave height and the non-dimensional wave period. Four areas representing the eastern ocean andthe western ocean are, respectively, selected in the Pacific Ocean. The dimensionless wave height and period for three consecutive yearsis calculated for each region to study dimensionless wave height andperiod in the wave field and compare the difference between the easternand western ocean, found that the dimensionless wave height and periodmeet a good correlation, not limited to wind wave. According to therange of dimensionless period and wave age, the entire wave data isdivided into different zones, and the coefficients are calculated inthe form Toba3/2exponential law in order to study the variation, the overall similarities and differences. And then based on the above, relationship between dimensionless period and the wave age is studied, found that the range of the two different intervals division has someoverlapping. Then the relationship between dimensionless period andthe dimensionless wave height is calculated through simplification andintegration, and in essence, the entire wave data is divided into twoparts, then a reasonable explanation is given. Based on3/5exponentiallaw of the Dong-Liang Zhao, relationship between dimensionless waveheight and wave age is studied in a similar way above, the results canbe found in a certain optimization. After comparing the differencebetween the different non-dimensional way, it is found that thecalculation of wave age and dimensionless quantity should adopt10mwind speed or friction velocity to make the calculation more accurate. Finally, NDBC buoy data is used to validate the above research, foundthat the results have some differences between these two research, andsome possible reasons is given: First, the data itself is a result ofdifferences in data sources; followed by data source caused the error. And it is found that, although the relationship between thedimensionless wave height and period calculated by data from differentsources, substantially the whole variation is consistent, with datafrom the same source, and the results of different data sources can belinked together through simple calculation.
