As an important part of water resources, groundwater is an ideal source of water supply forthe reasons of its good water quality, widely distribution, steady changes and handy. In arid andsemi-arid areas, it’s regarded as“Scarce resources”, and used to be the vital water-supply sourceof urban domestic water and industrial and agricultural water consumption, which plays a crucialrole in the regional economy development.Firstly, on the basis of fully analysing landform, hydrology, meteorology and hydrogeologyconditions of research area, the occurrence conditions, distribution regularities, recharge, runoffand discharge mode, and dynamic characteristics of research area groundwater are elaborateddetailedly. Then groundwater reservoir, boundary conditions, strata division, parameter partition, source sink term and so on are conceptualized. Employing GIS, TIN, SOLID and MODFLOWmodules in GMS7.1software, groundwater system in the study area is simulated, after whichmodel parameter identification and correction are done. As can be seen from the result, simulatedflow field basically reflects trend and law of groundwater flow in study area, and the overallfitting degree of calculated and measured water level is relatively well. Finally, on the premise ofright model checking, mining schemes for two delineated water source regions are drew up,simulated and calculated, and relevant water level and drawdown are predicted and forecasted. All these provide hydrogeological basis for coal resources planning and utilization atHeshituoluogai coal field and water resource region preliminary design. Due to distinctivepremise conditions of different mining schemes, the predictions differ largely. According tocontrastive analysis of their outcomes, adopting scheme two is recommanded.
