Landslide is a kind of natural disaster which usually occurred by external factors. And it’s also a kind of clusters of disaster which is unexpected and destructive. According to statistics, landslide disasters in Guangxi were caused by rainfall account for84.42%of the total from2005to2012. Subsequently it leads to a large number of people’s life and property losses. So the rainfall can be considered as an important inducing factor of Guangxi landslide hazard.This paper is supported by a project named "The research of warning and forecast system of torrential disasters in Guangxi induced by rainstorm ", which presided by the the Guangxi Department of Water Resources. According to the project, the effective law of rainfall on landslide is researched and used as a theoretical basis of the establishment of the warning and forecast system of landslide disasters in Guangxi. Main work of this paper is below:1. The characteristic and the law of the landslide disaster in Guangxi is summarized and concluded in the method of statistics based on the data of the landslide disasters in Guangxi. Subsequently the cause of landslide disasters in guangxi is analyzed which is based on the characteristic and law of the landslide disasters in Guangxi.2. Considering Wuzhou as a typical aera where the landslides are induced by the rainfall, and researching the law of how the rainfall influences the landslide disasters in Guangxi. The relationship between rainfall and landslides in Wuzhou is studied by statistical analysis software named SPSS. The effective rainfall model is also used as a tool to calculate the threshold value which will trigger the landslide hazards in Wuzhou.3. The research of the slope stability in Wuzhou Longmu Temple slope is sloved by two modules named Seep/W and Slope/E of the numberical analysis sofeware called Geo-studio. Considering the landslide machanism analysis combiTned by the unsaturated soil strength theory and unsaturated seepage theory, the unsaturated seepage and the stability of Longmu Temple slope under rainfall is well stimulated and studied by the means of Geo-studio. After finishing the analysis of the Longmu Temple slope stability, the relationship between landslide hazards and rainfall is clear and testified. The slope stability mechanism influenced by the rainfall threshold value is also obtained.
