According to the geologic characteristic, structural environment and reservoircharacteristic of the area of interest, in the guidance of terrestrial sequence stratigraphy, withthe help of seismic, drilling, logging and analysis testing data, the paper identifies andrecognizes sequence surface of Paleogene System, establishes isochronous sequencestratigraphic framework.Within the sequence framework, analyzes major provenance,precipitation faciesand diagenesis, predicts the sand body with favorable facies by combiningseismic property and wave impedance inversion techniques as well as conducts targetevaluation and optimization based on reservoir forming conditions. The main results andunderstanding is below:1. Determine the main type of llithostratigraphic hydrocarbon reservoirin different layersystem. Depression-slope transition zone is favorable for lithological hydrocarbon reservoir.In ShaIV Formation, there is mainly stratigraphic onlap hydrocarbon reservoir andupdippinchouthydrocarbon reservoir. In ShaIII Formation, there is mainlyturbiditicglutenitehydrocarbon reservoir, whereas in ShaII Formation there is mainlystructural lithological hydrocarbon reservoir.2. Divide detailed stratigraphic sequence and establishing isochronous sequencestratigraphic framework. It is the first time divided Shahejie Formation into3secondarysequences and6tertiary sequences. The thicker SO4sequence is subdivided into3systemtracts and then establishes isochronous sequence stratigraphic framework.3. It is confirmed that there are two provenance systems which control the distribution ofsand body in the area cooperatively. Optimize root-mean-square and instantaneous frequencywhich is suitable to the area and predict the whole through-going characteristics favorable forfaciesbelt sand body. It concludes that the area has the feature of intermittentprovenancesupplement.4. Determine the favorablefacies belt in lithostratigraphic hydrocarbon reservoir. Thecomprehensive study of provenance analysis, precipitation facies and diagenesis analysis indetailed sequence framework is helpful to determine favorable facies belt. Distribution area isdefined by wave impedanceinversion techniques.5. Enriching the technique measures for predicting reservoir. Due to the difficulties inidentifying reservoir by wave impedanceinversion technique, curve reconfiguration, naturalpotential inversion and electric resistivity inversion and other multi-property inversiontechniques are brought in for predicting the distribution of effective reservoir.6. In the guidance of research,15lithological traps are found and ascertained. Selectfavorable traps for comprehensive appraisal and deploy4exploration wells,3of which gainindustrial oil stream. It is the great evidence that the oil in lithostratigraphic hydrocarbonreservoir in Depression-slope transition zone in West Depression in Liaohe Oilfield communicates.
