As an important part of the lifeline engineering, the damage of transportationsystem not only causes the loss from the damage of itself, but more from the impact forpost-earthquake emergency rescue. Therefore, Study of earthquake damage evaluationfor transportation system is very important for the post-earthquake emergency rescue. This paper establishes the earthquake damage evaluation system for transportationsystem based on ArcEngine. The system contains transportation element damageassessment, and network analysis which includes shortest path analysis and trafficcapacity analysis. This study includes the following contents:1. The research status of geographic information systems (GIS) in seismic areasand the necessity of the study are introduced.2. The various damage assessment methods for transportation element areintroduced, and the methods used by the system established herein are introduceddetailedly. After that, the transportation network analysis which contains repair order, the shortest road and the road network capacity analyzes is introduced. Coefficientattenuation models of post-earthquake of different area in the mailand of our country areintroduced. GIS spatial analysis theories are introduced.3. The system is designed based on ArcGIS, which contains the requirementanalysis, system design principles, spatial database and attribute database. Theapproach to software development is determined.4. The system is developed Based on ArcEngine with VB.net language of VisualStudio10.0. The main functions include the earthquake intensity fast determination, the transportation element damage assessment, network shortest path, the repair order, and the capacity of road analysis.
