The ocean is rich in resources and energy. To make use of the ocean, peopleshould observe and study of it first. The photography and dynamic image recordingof underwater is so important to the area of the military, geography, biology,oil-drilling and engineering. Traditional underwater imaging technology is more andmore difficult to meet the needs of military and civilian. A new Compress sensing(CS)theory proposed in recent years is expected to bring new developmentopportunities for the field of underwater imaging. The main contents are as follows:At first, the essay introduces the background of the underwater imaging fieldcurrent, the characteristics of underwater imaging and the underwater imagingtechnology in china and abroad. It also makes a detailed introduction of thefoundation of compressed sensing theory and important parts of the theory, includingthe sparse representation of signals, the selection of algorithm and reconstruction andsampling matrix. The applicable situation of six sampling matrix were analyzed.The analysis and related properties of concrete calculation process of some kinds ofreconstruction algorithm is given.Then make specific introduction of compress sensing underwater opticalimaging system and a detailed description of the main parts of the underwatercompress sensing optical imaging system. Respectively gives a detaileddescription of subsystem, like optical system, systematic sampling component, etc.The electric control system and the performance parameters of the components arediscussed. The constructing of the algorithm system and reconstruction algorithmselection method is illustrated on the special area of underwater imaging. It alsodescribes in details of the working process of the whole system.Lastly, the experiments on land used the compress sensing underwater opticalimaging obtained a satisfactory image reconstruction in the laboratory at roomtemperature through POCS. The experiments research from several aspects such asdifferent sampling rates, considering the system noise or not, changing the size of thesampling matrix and transforming the sparse matrix, analyzing the experimentalresults, thus to do a thorough discussion to the performance of the underwatercompress sensing optical imaging system.
