The ocean wave spectrometer is a microwave remote sensor designed to measure thedirectional spectra of waves. Working at low-incidence, this instrument can provide globallong time observation of sea by scanning over360°in azimuth. Thus, these surfaceparameter information, such as the wave directional spectrum, the significant wave heightand wind speed, can be obtained. This thesis focuses on the microwave scattering theorymodel in the near-nadir, the mechanism of the spectrometer, and the simulation of theSpace-borne spectrometer.Firstly, the relationship between the waves and wave spectrum reveals the importanceof the wave spectrum detection. In the near-nadir we introduce three microwavebackscatter models, quasi-specular scattering model, two-scale model and multi-scalemodel. In large-incidence the first model is invalid, while the last two models can beworked on all incidence angles. Among the three models, the multi-scale is the mosteffective one. The backscatter coefficient of quasi-specular scattering model isproportional to the slope of the sea, taking into account the non-Gaussian probabilitydensity distribution of the slope which show higher-order statistical properties of the seasurface slope, a more accurate calculation of scattering was achieved to portray the actualsea. Then this paper analyzes the existed spectrum detection principle, and the point is thequasi-specular scattering and tilted modulation of long-wave. Finally, we introduceddetailed construct steps of ocean wave spectrum spectrometer detection simulationplatform. Using this simulation platform, we inversed different sea wave spectrums.Simulation results show for mature wave spectrum, it can be inversed greater than10m/s,while for immature spectrum waves and swell wave spectra can be detected under smallerwind speed. The detect result of spectrometer is also affected by the significant wave height. The greater significant wave height, the better inversion could be achieved.
