The Taxonomic Study Of Panesthiinae From China

This thesis is a comprehensive and systematic study on the taxonomy of subfamily Panesthiinae from China by traditional method and molecular phylogenic method. It mainly consists with the research history on Panesthiinae, materials and methods, phylogenic systematics and taxonomy.Molecular phylogenetic relationships of Chinese Panesthiinae were analyzed based on the combined sequences (3505bp) of 18S rRNA,28S rRNA, CoⅡ,16S rRNA,12S rRNA and Histone 3 gene. We obtained 45 combined sequences among 14 species in Panesthiinae and created phylogenetic tree by raxmlGUI 1.3 and MrBayes 3.1.2 package. Most basal relationships among species of Panesthia and Salganea were analysed according the phylogenetic tree, suggesting results as follow:1) Both Salgenea and Panesthia taxa formed highly supported monophyletic groupings, which is conform to the present systematics; 2) the molecular phylogenetic results did not support the species groups identification by Roth (1979a); 3) Salganea guangxiensis is containing in the clade of Salganea taiwanensis, thus, we suggested that Salganea guangxiensis should be synonymized to Salganea taiwanensis; 4) The designation of two variations of Salganea raggei by Roth (1979b) should be different species.Herein,23 species of 5 genera of Panesthia are recognized, with descriptions of 6 species new to science and redescriptions of 17 known species. The main morphological characters are described and the male genitals of 17 species are illustrated. Besides, we firstly describe female genitals and nymphs, providing fine photos of adults, nymphs and female genitals. Keys are given to all the genera and species concerned. Syn. n.. (=Salganea taiwanensis Roth 1979).The type specimens of the new species are deposited in the College of Plant Protection, Southwest University (SWU) and Hebei University (HBU).
