During the predicting process for the potential horizons in the study area, it is indispensable to do some research on the reservoir characteristics.BN Block is a part of Boland(Pollan) oil field in the Permian Basin, located in the northwestern Texas in the United States. This study outlines the potential forecast of BN Block, and it is necessary to do some further research for oil reservoir divide and correlation, reservoir characteristics and potential horizons problems in the BN Block. Based on the selected work criteria wells(drilled all the strata and marked the significant strata) in the area, 31039 well with the deepest bottom hole, is selected as the stratification criteria well. This study applied “cyclic correlation, graduation control” comparison method to the 31 wells, 5 sets of strata, 9 oil groups and unitized the strata in the study area. On this basis, reservoir characteristics of the structure were studied, and this study reconstructed oil-water contact. Finally, the original oil-water contact depth was adjusted from-5500 ft to-5400 ft. The study divided the reservoirs thickness, explained porosity, the permeability and saturation parameters in the reservoirs, and combined the interpretation of the results with the actual situation in order to analyze and study comprehensively the distribution characteristics of reservoir parameters. According to the interpretations for the data and results, volumetric method is applied to all oil layers in BN Block to access the oil initially in place(OIIP) and evaluate the reservoirs. With all the integration of achievements mentioned above, this paper analyzed well-log features, structural features, logging features and summarized the distribution characteristics of effective reservoir thickness and physical parameter, and combined them with dynamic production data of fields, and predicted the potential horizons at last, which provided the theoretical basis and technical guidance for further production and development, further research advantaged reservoirs distribution and finding the remaining oil enriched zones so as to maintain economic and effective production in the BN Block.
