Recently, nephrite lifts a buying spree in the domestic market of jewelry and jade because of its color as jadeite, embellish as suet. The Canadian nephrite get the favour of domestic workers by its large output, large blocks, rich and gaudy color and so on。 Although the former have done comprehensive research on these different origins of nephrite, the research for the same origin of different mining area of nephrite is insignificant, and rare information of the Canada nephrite have been reported about the waterline chunk, green or brown spots and black spots. So this topic will be focus on the basis of previous studies, using the conventional gemological characteristics test, observed under polarization microscope, EPMA, X-ray powder diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscope, infrared spectrum analysis and testing means such as LA-ICP-MS for the research and analysis of the Canadian Polar mining jade mineral composition and the cause of color, then summarize the origin characteristics of nephrite.Observed under polarizer, the main mineral composition of the polar mining jade is tremolite, secondary minerals include:garnet, pyroxene and actinolite, and there is no chromite in the arctic samples compare to the samples from other field.Through Scanning under electron microscope (SEM), it found the polar nephrite has a certain relationship between the structure and the transparency or toughness. The more oriented degree the tremolite fibers are, the higher the transparency, the tremolite water line have a high level of fiber orientation than the tremolite around, result in high transparency, Fibrous mixed pattern, tight and toughness; along with low Parallel orientational toughness and low Loose piece of layered structure toughness.Electronic probe test shows the main mineral composition of Polar mining nephrite is tremolite, black dot’s composition is grossular, green spots’ composition is uvarovite, also contains a certain amount of pyroxene, and pyroxene only appeared in the polar mine samples. White, brown water line and mass’s composition is tremolite.LA-ICP-MS test showed that the polar mining nephrite’s green color mainly related to Fe and Cr. The trace element Cr decides the degree of brightness of green. Fe2+ devotes to nephrite’s green color, Fe3+ is a major cause of nephrite yellow tone.
