With the ever-increasing demand for rare earths, associated rare earth has become the present and future important potential source of rare earths for its abundant reserves and wide distribution in phosphate rock.Our predecessors has obtained abundant research results and considerable headway with the thorough research of Zhijin REE-bearing phosphorite in Guizhou province. In order to promote comprehensive utilization of associated rare earth,same as a province with abundant phosphate reserves, Sichuan province will be necessary to ascertain the distribution and characteristicof its REE-bearing phosphorite.This paper chooses the main kinds of phosphate rock (Kunyany P deposit, Qingping P deposit,Shifang P deposit) in Sichuan province which have a large-scale distribution as the subject, quantitatively analyses rare earth elements amount of the samples from the mining area. The results show that the rare earth elements amount of the phosphorite in Kunyany P deposit and Qingping P deposit is111.39~240.15×10-6, the REE of Shifang P deposit is 114.95~5144.3×10-6, compared with the REE of Guizhou zhijin xinhua phosphate rock(251~974×10-6),It is the first time to enrich only Shifang P deposit is the REE-bearing phosphorite, which the highest REO grade(0.67%) has reached the cutoff grade of rare earth mine.The characteristic that the Shifang P deposit with large quantities of rare earth element is rich in light rare earth La and Ce and heavy rare earth Y is found. Svanbergite is rich in rare elements such as Zr,Ga, Ge, and Cd. By means of SEM observation with the help of EDX qualitative analysis and XRD analysis, it is found that rare earth occurrence in mainly collophanite and svanbergite as isomorphism hosting and marginally svanbergite as independent mineral (monazite).The phosphogypsum heap is about 20.269 million tons in Mianzu and Shifang, and the rare earth analysis result of large amount of phosphogypsum heap samples show that the rare sarth content is about 305.2×10-6~347.73×10-6,which corrected rare earth oxide is about 7797.5 tons and the phosphogypsum heap is of high potential value for resource utilization.The result of rare earth leaching experiment by acid in phosphogypsum shows that hydrochloric acid leaching of phosphogypsum is comparatively effective and the leaching rate reach to 50.44%, that has certain reference value and guiding sense for recovery of rare earth in phosphogypsum.
