There are plenty varieties of oil plants of seed plants in China, and there are great numbers of reports on fatty acids of these plants. Most research results were published in Chinese and the data have not systematically arranged in database.These identified oil seed plant account for only 5% of plants in China. There are still a lot of wildlife resources to be explored, especially in China. By searching electronic database, electronic library and other resources, the author collectted and collated previous results about fatty acids of Chinese seed oil plants to establish an electronic research database for researchers around the world. Based of analyzing a large number of documents, 5 kinds of Chinese endemic plant seed, without report of seed fatty acids, were collected to analysis their seed fatty acid components. Results show that:(1)As many as 1130 electronic references and 6 published books, related to the study of the seed fatty acids in Chinese oil plants were collected and organized.. The fatty acid database of seeds involves 125 families, 1344 species of Chinese oil plantsand contains more than 4300 groups of data.(2) Analysis the data of fatty acids in the database, the results showed that 18 kinds of fatty acids were found in only one specific family of plant. There are five kinds of odd number carbon fatty acids in plants with the contents more than 5%. There are 20 species in Lauraceae family with the lauraceae lauric acid content more than 70%. And the palmitic acid contents are over 40% in 21 species from 17 families, the stearic acid contents are over 30% in 12 species from 9 families, and the oleic acid contents are over 80% in 20 species in 9 families, the linoleic acid contents are over 80% in 45 species from 23 families, the linolenic acid contents are over 65% in 14 species from 7 families.(3) There has been no report of fatty acid analysis in some plants such as Poliothyrsis sinensis Oliv., Sinojackia xylocarpa Hu, Sinojackia dolichocarpa C. J. Qi, Sinowilsonia henryi, Kolkwitzia amabilis Graebn. Seed of these five plants were collected and fatty acids components were analyzed by GC.The results showed that the main compounds of seed oil were identified as palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid. The content of linoleic acid is the highest, between 40.61% and 69.26%.The content of unsaturated fatty acids range from 86.90% to 91.53%. The content of linolenic acid in Sinowilsonia henryi was 31.45%.The special fatty acid, ricinoleate acid, was found in Poliothyrsis sinensis Oliv. with as high as 30.5% content.
