Digitally spectrum-controllable light sources can modulate and output expected spectral radiance, e.g. solar, equal energy and band-pass spectral radiance. It has attracted wide application in many fields, e.g. photoelectric instrument calibration, life science, machine vision, illumination design, national defense science and technology. The aim of this thesis is to study its working principle, control method, optical system design and the development of a core dispersion part, which provides principles, methods and practical results for the realization of digitally spectrum-controllable light sources.Firstly, this thesis introduces the working principle, structure and control theory of digitally spectrum-controllable light sources, which is based on the research at home and abroad. It analyses the response function of the dispersive optical system for a theoretical spin. It also gives a preliminary modeling method and a preliminary simulation result to the modulation output and spectrum synthesis of the controllable spectrum.Afterwards, a special spectrum-controllable light source system based on DMD-Offner structure is introduced in this article. This light source system constituted of three main parts, i.e. an illumination subsystem, a spectroscopic imaging unit and a light-homogenization subsystem. It introduces the optimized design result of the three parts. The DMD works as a spatial light modulator has been placed on the focal plane of the dispersive configuration, which can modulate the strobe light radiance according to requirements of the wavelength and the intensity. Then the needed light will be coupled into the light-homogenization optics and we can get the expected spectral radiance distribution from the system. Finally, this thesis gives the results of a modular design and the development of a core dispersion part. The corresponding test results, e.g. spectrum, diffraction efficiency and Modulation Transfer Function(MTF) are present as well.
