In recent years, the development of ocean resources such as the exploitation of oil and natural gas, the use of marine Space have drawn great attention of countries and gradually from onshore to offshore. However, submarine landslide in the area of geological disasters may not only cause tsunamis but also other natural disasters, even more, it will change the bottom of the sea sedimentary system which can make much damage to submarine engineering facilities such as submarine cables and oil pipeline. But, the development of exploitation of oil and natural gas belong to the extensive stage, construction ability and technical equipment is low, the experience of design and construction in submarine is insufficient. To solve these problems, a systematic and in-depth study on submarine landslide according to the characteristics of the sea and marine resources of our country is very necessary. Landslides occur both onshore and offshore, scholars have done much research on landslides, however little attention has been given to submarine landslides. Submarine landslides include large mass movements and long travel distances at very gentle slopes, this can have significant impacts and consequences on offshore and coastal facilities. A study on centrifugal model test for submarine landslides was carried out by using a GT450/1.4drum centrifuge, which was introduced by Dalian University of Technology. This paper has carried out the following research work:The implementation of landslide in drum centrifuge is the key problem to study submarine landslides. In this paper, a slope inclination of6has been developed, which can simulate the process of landslide under different initial conditions; the filling injection device which can make it possible that ship the soil from a stillness container to the slope inclination which was fit in the centrifuge of high speed rotation is designed according to the characteristics of centrifuge at high speed; in order to record the landslide process and study the characteristics of landslide, a video system is designed according to the characteristics of drum and slope inclination, it proves that the video system works well.A series of experiment at different conditions of centrifugal acceleration and the soil moisture content has developed in this paper with the use of centrifuge, slope inclination, filling injection device and video system. The result of the centrifuge model test of dry landslide indicates that when the soil moisture content is a certain value but the centrifuge acceleration changes, the velocity will be increased with the growth of the sliding distance for the same sliding process and the tendency become slow; for different sliding process, the slide average velocity increase when the centrifuge acceleration increase and the curve approximate linear; soil thickness decreases with the increase of centrifuge acceleration and the curve also approximate linear. When the centrifuge acceleration is a certain value but the soil moisture content changes, the slide average velocity increase when the soil moisture content increase and the curve approximate linear; soil thickness decreases with the increase of soil moisture content and the curve also approximate linear.
