The Study Of Geological Features And Geochemical Prospecting Prediction At Ikungu Gold Property In Tanzania

Ikungu gold deposit is located in Musoma-Mara greenstone inside carton of Tanzania,is the typical greenstone belt gold in African. This paper based on documentscollection and analysis, finished lots of site work, using theories like Structuralgeology, Petrology, Mineralogy, Mineral deposit, Geochemical and metallogenicprediction to finish the study of Ore-forming geological features, ore-controllingfactors and structural evolution process at Ikungu gold deposit in Tanzania, for thehigh overburden on the surface， this project has brought in a new technology calledMobile Metal Ion(MMI), based on the anomaly of MMI to study the project potential.The paper has acquired the achievements as follow:1. Summarize the Ore-forming features based on the study of geological features, thetop layer of Nyanzian group called metasedimentary rock has very strong relationshipwith Ore-forming and this is the gold host mother rock. This layer not only supportthe material source of gold deposit forming, but also host the main shear zones for theresilience lithology, the shear zone is the pathway of gold contain liquid and the spacecontrolled by the sub-structure is the sediment space for ore-forming. At last thepotash granite close to the metasedimentary rock supplied the hydrothermal which isnecessary to Ore-forming.2. Based on the different relationship of structure in property, combined the study ofgeological structure features, summarize the structural evolution process in thisproperty.3. Compared the MMI survey and common soil survey at Ikungu project, confirmedthat MMI survey is much effective than common soil survey at the high overburdenarea. Based on the anomaly of MMI, completed the geochemical anomalies map tohelp the study of project potential4. On the basis of induction of metallogenic geological features, study theCorresponding relations between geochemical anomalies and geological features,analysis the symbol of geochemical metallogenic prediction, built up the prospectingsymbol combined geological features and geochemical anomalies. Using the symbolto find out4target areas in this property, two of these target areas maybe the extension of main body at east and west sides the other three maybe the new unknownore body, indication the potential of this property.
