Xinji Mine is located on the south of Huainan synclinorium in Huabei plate, with complex geologic structure. F10is one of the fault developed in coal series, with the highest throw, and cutting the most seams, affected on mine geology work seriously, such as tunnel layout, stopping sequence arrangement, coal and gas outburst prevention and control, etc. Through data analysis, engineering drilling, indoor test and in-situ test means, studied on fault evolution characteristics, the engineering mechanics properties of fault zone rock mass, fault gouge characteristics and characteristics of regional ground stress field, etc, revealed the nature and evolution law of the F10fault profoundly, afforded a lesson on production deployment, prevention and control of geologic disasters.Studied from regional tectonic background and tectonic evolution characteristics, discussed the general characteristics of normal fault evolution in Xinji diggings under the structure setting. F10fault had experienced three period tectonic movement: Indosinian movement, Yanshan movement and Himalayan movement, with different directions and properties, showed the complexity and particularity of the fault characteristics. Combined with the exploration data, revealed the morphological features of F10fault, neighboring normal faults well-developed, but all showed properties of reverse fault, due to the mining area located on the foreland of south-north hedge nappe, so antithetic faults and trapped folds are well-developed, small fault strike is mainly divided into to two groups of NEE and SEE. Tested the physical and mechanical properties of fault zone rock mass, analyzed the grading characteristics of the fault gouge, fractal characteristics, clay mineral composition and content, showed that fault gouge grading is well overall, the particle size is uneven distribution, the average content of clay accounted for22.7%; Clay minerals included kaolinite, andreattite, a small amount of chlorite and illite, kaolinite accounted for the largest absolute content in the fault gouge; Fractal features showed F10fault has stick-slip and creep properties both. Through the original rock stress testing, deplayed Xinji Mine’s stress field type is the tectonic stress field, which the maximum horizontal principal stress direction is NEE or nearly EW, the maximum and intermediate principal stress changing with depth are divided into three stages, showed that the mining area had experienced three periods of transformation of tectonic movement.
