In Arabidopsis, there is only one copy of COI1(CORONATINE INSENSITIVE1) gene, but there are three COI1homologs in rice (Oryza sativa). We cloned OsCOI1a into the expression vector pMYC2, and transformed it into Arabidopsis coil-1mutants. We studied the function of OsCOI1a by testing if OsCOIla can restore the phenotype of Arabidopsis coil-1mutants. We tested the mRNA and protein expression levels by qRT-PCR and western blot, observed the activity of pollen and the sterility of siliques in coil-1mutants transformed with OsCOI1a, and found out that OsCOI1a could partly complement the phenotype of the sterility of Arabidopsis coil-1mutants. All these results suggested that OsCOIla might be a receptor of jasmonates in rice.
