Extreme weather refers to the rare weather events which probability is less than 5% or 5% in some certain area or a certain time. On the basis of analyzing the extreme weather types and indicators, we designed meteorological monitoring system by MSC1210 MCU chip of TI as the hardware core and used serial communication and GPRS data transmission to transmit information timely.Highway extreme meteorological monitoring system can automatically collect and process meteorological information. Hardware part consists of sensor, data collector and PC machine. According to the requirements of sensor data,the system process meteorological information and transmit the data to the PC with wired or wireless parameters after processing. Software part includes data collector software and PC software development. According to the way of the data collector software setting sampling period, the system process sensor signal. PC data acquisition software can complete the collection of data storage and analysis and the results show in the form of curve and table. Software can complete the data acquisition storage, management and system integration. There is the high precision, the smaller volume and the less power consumption. Hence the meteorological monitoring system can satisfy the highway specific environmental requirements.The system can release the meteorological information of highway and improve the traffic administrative department of the response to sudden weather decision-making accuracy, and provide the data of traffic guidance scheme in advance. It is the powerful guarantees for meteorological monitoring service and traffic administration work and it can improve the expressway traffic safety.
