Based on theories and methodologies of Sedimentology, Petrology, and Sequence Stratigraphy, this thesis did a comprehensive analysis combined with more than 20 ports drill logging data by observing, sampling, and Laboratory testing the outcrop of the study area. The research was done around Sedimentary facies, sequence stratigraphy of Taiyuan Group, Jinggong sankuang, Pingshuo mining area. The research of phase mark shows that there are eight kinds of sedimentary microfacies and delta front and delta plain subfacies. The characteristics of each microfacies wre also summarized.The recognition study of sequence boundary, water into surface and water into the face shows that carboniferous and permian coal-bearing rock serie of Pingshuo Mining area is divided into 7 third-order sequences, 14 systems tracts, and these summed up the characteristics of sequence stratigraphy.(1) SQ2 period, LST is mainly presented as underwater distributary channel and distributary bay; TST is mainly showed as inter shunt depression.(2)SQ3 period, LST presents as distributary channel; TST forms advantageous peat bogs which help the development of 9 # coal seam; highstand system tract mainly shows as distributary bay.(3)SQ4 period, LST are mainly distributary channel, TST presents as floodplain and peat bog, while HST presents as floodplains.(4)SQ5 period, LS T develops into distributary channel and floodplains, TST forms peat bog which helps developing 4 # coal seam. By analyzing the well profile, the thickness of coal seam is inversely proportional with the thickness of sand body; sand body thickness overall presents from northwest to southeast direction thinning and maturity showed a trend of increase.it also shows that the paleogeographic pattern of Taiyuan Group presents high in the northwest and low in the southeast; direction of transgression is southeast.Studies have shown that by comparing 4#, 9#, 10#and 11#coal seams, 4#, 9#and 11# coal seams are main minable seams in the scope of entire district, which are all developed from transgressive systems tracts. The general thickness increasing trend of these coal seams is from northwest to southeast.
