The Coal seam has experienced a series of physical and chemical reaction of the deposition in the sedimentary system and the reaction of the geothermal, magma and other thermal motion, combined with the plot with the tectonic movement influenced by dynamic function, the coal field exploration and exploitation in the process is facing many geological disaster damage. They are not only the quality of coal is affected, and sometimes even lose a lot of useful resources, increase the production cost, especially seriously threatens the safety of the mine and the life safety of the staff, poses a great threat to coal mine production. Coal water disasters problem is an important problem which must be solved in the security of construction and mining coal. Transient electromagnetic is a exploration technology which has been widely applied in hydrology and engineering exploration in recent years, it has many advantages can’t be matched by other geophysical methods. such as close observation, small size effect, high directivity, high resolution, is sensitive to low resistivity zone, and the advantages of rapid construction, it is being more and more applied in coalfield water disasters exploration.This paper is divided into six parts. The first part is the introduction, mainly introduces the research background, significance, transient electromagnetic method and the research situation at domestic and abroad and the main research contents of the thesis. The second part is the basic principle of transient electromagnetic method, the basic theory of the smoke ring effect, and late apparent resistivity formula is deduced. The third part of the transient electromagnetic processing is the core content of this paper, the content focuses on the aspects of the correction of ramp time, wavelet de-noising method, the "smoke ring" theory of inversion of transient electromagnetic data processing and interpretation. The fourth part discusses the selection of the factors influencing the transient electromagnetic method and parameters, and discusses the method of instrument parameter selection, summarizes the matters needing attention of field work. The fifth part starting from the field work, the Dong Chong mine 14 sections are processed and interpreted, proved its structure and goaf water property characteristics and spatial distribution. The sixth part summarizes the work, and puts forward some suggestions.In this dissertation, focus on the effect of shut off and its correction Fitterman method, wavelet de-noising method and the "smoke ring" inversion, etc, the research results will be applied in to the coal mine water hazard’s exploration and interpretation of Dong chong, and have achieved good results, provide a certain technical support for production the design of the mine of the future construction work.
