To maintain the currency of spatial data to the largest extent and increase the frequency of spatial data updating, the incremental updating has become the main spatial data updating mode.The basic idea of incremental updating is detecting the changed spatial information by making full use of all kinds of latest spatial data, and then revising the old dataset with the changed information. Because different updating data source has different data precision, different data model, different mathematics basis, different time state and so on, as a result, inconsistency will arise in the process of updating, namely spatial conflicts, which leads to the decrease of spatial data quality and affects the use of updated data. Therefore, the spatial conflict must be detected and processed effectively. However, the ability of automatic detection and processing of spatial conflict still can’t meet the need of incremental updating, and detecting efficiency is also low. In view of this, research on the automatic detection and processing of spatial conflict which suits the incremental updating has some important theoretical significance and practical value.With the respect of improving the quality of spatial data and increasing the degree of automation of spatial data updating, the paper takes the spatial conflict produced in the settlement incremental updating as example to explore the method of automatically detecting and processing the spatial conflicts produced in spatial data incremental updating. The main contents and innovations of this thesis are as the followings:1)The past researches on the concept, classification and detecting and processing of spatial conflict are analyzed. By reviewing the basic process of incremental updating, the paper summarizes the reasons that produce the spatial conflict. The characteristic that the spatial conflict always occurs around the updated features is found, based on which a detecting and processing model is built, and the model is specialized in detection and processing the spatial conflicts that produced in the process of spatial data incremental updating.2)Research on the detecting method of topological spatial conflict. The paper analyses the sources of topological constraint rules, builds a proper topological expressing model and a proper topological constraint rules expressing model according to the practical need, and summarizes the common topological spatial conflicts related to the settlement. Second, the disadvantages of traditional proximity analysis methods are analyzed, then a new method using grids index is proposed, based on which an efficient detecting model is built. Finally, the efficiency of the detecting model is tested by experiment.3)Research on processing method of topological spatial conflict. The paper summarizes the basic spatial conflict processing methods, including moving, splitting, reshaping, deleting and rotating. The spatial conflict is classified into 9 categories base on the geometry shape, and themethods of measuring and processing some common topological spatial conflicts are introduced,then the strategy and procedures of topological spatial conflict processing are gave out.4) Research on detecting method of direction spatial conflict. Firstly, the concept of direction spatial conflict is defined, and the difficulties existing in the detecting of direction spatial conflict are studied. Secondly, by analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of typical direction relation model, the direction relation matrix model is selected as the direction relation calculating model, and the paper expands the direction relation matrix model to meet the need of detecting. Thirdly, an improved model for calculating the similarity of spatial direction relations between areal objects is proposed, which redefines the direction relation distance between single-element direction-relation matrices and uses a more simple method to calculate the distance between multi-element direction-relation matrices. Finally, the relation of direction relation similarity and direction spatial conflict is explained, and a detecting method of direction spatial conflict based on the measure of direction relation similarity is proposed.5)An experimental system of detecting and processing the spatial conflict related to the settlement incremental updating is designed and accomplished. Taking the real spatial data as the experimental subject, the functions of detecting topological spatial conflict, detecting direction spatial conflict and processing the spatial conflict are tested, and the feasibility of related theories and methods is verified by the experiments.
