The present thesis deals with the taxonomy of spiders from Hengshan National Nature Reserve of Hunan Province, China. Four parts are included:Part I briefly introduces the history of spider fauna in China, the general information of Hengshan National Nature Reserve, the general morphology and the taxonomic system of spiders. Part II reported the result of a detailed study of 224 species belonging 30 families, including 19 new species and 2 male supplements. Descriptions, illustrations, Specimens examined, geography data and the etymologies are given to each new species. Closely related and easily confused species compared with the new species are discussed. Part III discussed the impact of tourism development on the spider diversity. Finally, part IV contains 158 photos and 113 figures in 84 plates.19 new species described in the present thesis are:Mimetus anguilliformis sp. nov., Emertonella lunata sp. nov., Takayus albomaculata sp. nov., Prochora pseudopraticola sp. nov., Castianeira nigrita sp. nov., Trachelas elongatus sp. nov., Pseudopoda renalis sp. nov., Pseudopoda falcata sp. nov., Philodromus bicavus sp. nov., Monaeses tangi sp. nov., Euophrys hengshanensis sp. nov., Laufeia bicava sp. nov., Myrmarachne transversa sp. nov., Phintella pyrifera sp. nov., Plexippoides globosus sp. nov., Plexippoides bistortus sp. nov., Pseudicius auspex sp. nov., Asianellus pengi sp. nov., and Yaginumaella campanacea sp. nov.; 2 species with the first description of the male are: Theridion obscuratum Zhu,1998 and Hitobia makotoi Kamura,2011.
