Earthquake caused by buried active faults underneath city will produce an extremely serious damage. For active fault detection and stability analysis in city, can accurately understand the distribution and hazard of active faults, which can provide a certain theoretical basis for the scientific planning of urban construction. Ningnan County, located in active new tectonic movement region, is destructive earthquake activity area. So it has very important significance for main city zone to detect the active fault and analyze its stability. The main contents of this paper are as follows.(1) According to the geological background of the study area, and combing with the commonly used active faults detection method at the present stage, and analyzing the basic principles and applicability of each method, this paper proposes a set of comprehensive detection methods, including ETM remote sensing image, field survey, EH4 and radioactive analysis, which can provide the basis for a similar engineering detection.(2) Through the initial detection of the study area, we know that the southwest of main city zone in Ningnan is controlled by Datong fault, and the North-East is mainly controlled by Songxin fault. The other faults have smaller extended distance, the possibility of fracture is small and Quaternary has no activity characteristics, which can be determined as inactive faults, the result can provide some theoretical basis for the detailed detection.(3) Contrasting EH4 method with radiological analysis results, and drilling results, the results show that EH4 and radioactive analysis method are suitable for study area active fault detection. And respectively arrange two detection lines for the detailed detection, further have distribution characteristics of Datong fault and Songxin fault.(4)By dividing the potential focal source area, make sure earthquake activity parameters of potential focal source area and background source.Due to the constraints of time and equipment, we do not a large number of contrastive tests...
