As environmental quality of ground water changes, the old water resources assessment in Xinzhou cannot meet demands of the development, utilization and management of water resources now. The materials of ground water, which are used for analysis and evaluation of new situation and problems, need to be updated. This paper relies on a scientific research project of hydro geological maps producing and Spatial hydrological geology information system research. By collecting historical data and analyzing chemical monitoring data of groundwater, this paper researches chemical characteristics of groundwater in Xinzhou. The research results of this article are as follows:(1)This paper selects 55 monitoring points of groundwater,4 large karst springs and 8 medium-sized reservoirs in Xinzhou city to get 78 quality testing reports. According to these reports, the overall quality assessment of groundwater has been completed. The paper also summarizes the excessive material types and the cause of them and analyzes the distribution and formation reasons of all kinds of water quality.(2)Describes the distribution of groundwater chemical types and the research focus on the groundwater chemical characteristics of the large karst springs and xinzhou basin. This article selects the key domain areas, horses springs and yongxing river pluvial fan, to analyzes the influence factors of groundwater chemical characteristics through mathematical statistics and researching the change rule of groundwater chemical index. According to the research conclusion, advises of the groundwater sustainable utilization have been proposed.(3)Introduces the principle of multivariate statistical analysis method, and the chemical indicators of groundwater are analyzed by the clustering analysis and principal component analysis. The result of clustering analysis shows that there are four groups of indicators that have good correlation, and analyzes their related mechanism. The result of principal component analysis shows that there are three principal components that have a greater influence on chemical characteristics of groundwater, and they respectively explained the influence of the hydrogeological environment, industrial wastewater and agricultural irrigation, coal mining on the chemical characteristics of groundwater.(4) Describes the main distribution area of Xinzhou’s high fluoride water and its distribution, and analyzes the formation. Studies the distribution of endemic fluorosis, and compares with high fluoride water distribution characteristics to analyze he correlation between them. The control measures of high fluoride water in Xinzhou city have also been suggested.
