Landslide refers to the phenomenon in which slope rock and soil move forward along the inner slope belt or surface due to the changes in geological environment and geological body caused by natural forces or human action. It is the failure induced by the rock and soil mass instability. In late June,2013, continuous heavy rainfall occurred in the Li Wu limestone (used for cement) mining area located in Xukou town of Fuyang city. Subsequently, large-scale mountain geological landslide occurred again in the original landslide location and its west side of +310m~+388m elevation in the range of prospecting line Ⅵ-Ⅵ. The staffs liives and property in mining area were seriously endangered. The loose deposit landslide is now in the critical condition. But a lot of berms and fracture exist around the peripheral and internal locations of landslide. The structure of the landslide surface rock is relatively loose, so rainfall is easy to permeate into the landslide body. Under torrential rain or continuous rainstorm weather condition, the instable landslide is likely to occur again, which would threaten the safety of mining area. The landslide area is located in the north side of the middle part of the hillside. It spans over the north and south on both sides of the mining area land line. According to the site survey, the landslide is about 170 meters in length and 260 meters in width with the flat projection area of about 34900 square meters. Its thickness of landslide was estimated to be 4-25 meters with the average thickness approximately being 10 meters. This landslide belongs to the medium-sized one with 350,000 cubic meters. In this work, the following analysis was mainly performed with the above landslide as the object of study: 1. In this work, the requirement of the landslide geological investigation, key points and exploration procedure were introduced. Through the project example of Fuyang landslide, the exploration programs and the investigation results were presented;2. According to the topography, landforms and geological structure conditions, the stability of the sliding body were qualitatively analyzed.3. Based on the slope situation with survey results, the calculation parameters of the soil and rock were inverted.4、The stability of sliding body for different sections was analyzed using a variety of limit equilibrium theory, and the results obtained using different methods were tabulated and compared.5、Using finite element method, the stability of the main slide body was analyzed through the strength reduction theory based on the plane strain assumption,.6、On the basis of the unsaturated soil mechanics theory, unsaturated soil-soil water characteristic curve (SWCC) and coefficient of permeability characteristic curve were established,Moreover, many influence factors such as the soil anisotropic permeability, the initial sliding parameters, and etc. were considered, and then the relationship of rainfall duration and the stability was calculated based on the obtained data.7、By comparing and analyzing the results obtained by using various methods, the mechanics and factors for the difference was discussed.
