The clastic rock of Mesozoic and Cenozoic in Western Tabei Bulge, is the target area in Tarim Basin. As the development of exploration technology, exploration priority is turning from tectonic trap to lithological trap.According to tectonic evolution analysis, Mesozoic and Cenozoic in Western Tabei Bulge is considered as the favorable area. Kumugeliemu Formation, Paleogene, Shushanhe Formation and Yageliemu Formation, Cretaceous are considered to have good conditions for the formation of lithological trap based on paleogeomorphy restoration, sequence stratigraphy analysis and reservoir sedimentary research.The reservoir with great lateral variation is thin in study area. multi-seismic attribution analysis, spectral decomposition, strata slicing and impedance inversion were taken in reservoir prediction and determining range of this type of reservoir. Oiliness prediction of trap was conducted using hydrocarbon detection based on pre-stack and post-stack seismic data.Through the research mentioned above, recognition and evaluation methods of Mesozoic and Cenozoic lithological trap in Tabei west were summarized. Good results were achieved in the lithological trap recognition and evaluation of YDong 1 and Quele 1, Paleogene and Yangta 11, Cretaceous.
