Shui Shen Tang Temple in Guangling County is located in the haihe River basin, which is one of the larger springs in northern China. It dried in July 2014. This incident has affected the Environmental protection and water use in production and daily life. Relevant departments of the Government attach great importance to this matter, and quickly organized a professional team to investigate this incident. Our first task is to identify the area’s geological structure. Geological Survey of what people used to do in the region are few and lack of information, especially location and nature of major geological structures in the region is not clear. We collected and analyzed geological information, construction information, information on Karst hydrogeology, we surveyed and studied the location of hidden geological structure of the quaternary loose soils by means of the CSAMT in the major sections of the basin. Eventually achieved these results: 1. We finally put forward that there is no fixed springs domain boundaries between Guangling county and Yuxian county. There is a groundwater divide between them. 2. Huliu river fault zone composed by multiple faults, it belongs to the normal fault that can divert the groundwater. It identified as the southern border of the spring area is wrong according to the available information. 3. Tectonic movement of south mountain is stronger than the north mountain. This basin is an asymmetric half Graben basin according to outcrop stratigraphy, geologic structure characteristics. 4. Small geological structure around the Shui Shen Tang temple is the channel that water can flow through it. Pore water and karst water form springs together. The main reason of that it dried is over-exploitation of groundwater and precipitation decrease. 5. Basin tectonic belt is strong runoff zones and water storage site of karst water.The above results, fill a gap in the geological structure in the area of information and provides a scientific basis for related work. Buried bedrock zone geological survey research methods is first used in Shanxi, this is very useful for similar spring field constructed in North China research. The research results of south mountain fault can guide further research in the south margin of Guanglin-Yuxian basin.
