Electromagnetic metamaterials is a kind of synthetic structural materials which nature does not exist, with unique magnetic properties(including negative refraction, inverse doppler frequency shift, inverse cherenkov radiation, etc.). It is of great application prospect in electromagnetism, optics, material science, physics and wireless communication, electronic engineering and other engineering fields. After implementation of the first microwave frequency electromagnetic metamaterials in 2000, it has received extensive attention of research scholars at home and abroad. Recently, researchers are working in the frequency from microwave to push terahertz wave and light wave band. Structuring low loss, broadband, high dimension, easy processing of materials has been a research focus in this field. This paper mainly seeks the terahertz metamaterials with good performance based on the research emphasis. In this paper, adopting the method of numerical simulation researches the electromagnetic characteristics of the metamaterials.First, this paper mainly introduces the basic principle and the electromagnetic properties of metamaterials. Using the CST software simulate on metamaterials of single ring structure of different electromagnetic wave incident angle. Extracting the reflection/transmission parameters analyze the metamaterials degree of dependency for polarization direction of incident wave in TE mode and TM mode. The results of the TE mode and TM mode are almost the same due to the using circles and frequency response and reflection parameters only small changes. Second, after the structure of concentric circles, using CST simulation extracts the reflection/transmission parameters and response frequency. The structure stabilized response frequency is a more than single rings.By changing the angle of the incident wave, the paper analyzes the metamaterials dependence to the direction of the incident wave polarization in TE mode and TM mode. The results of the TE mode and TM mode are almost the same due to its symmetry and frequency response and reflection parameters only small changes.The above two kinds of structure are not sensitive to the polarization direction of incident wave. By changing the center distance between the two rings of the double ring structure, the results showed that the response frequency and amplitude reflection parameters changed little under the TE mode and TM mode. Again, the article introduces the metamaterial absorbing principle of absorber, the above three kinds of structural unit absorbing rate is analyzed. Finally, this paper proposes a composed of wafer and open circle metamaterials absorber which achieves the double band absorbing, and introduces the simple optimization method.
