Gubei slope belt is a gentle slope inclined to north and northwest which lies between Gubei sub-sag and Gubei high and presents structure characteristic of fault slope breaks. According to years of exploration practice, the fault slope breaks has good prospect for oil and gas, but there are no systematic research on conditions, models and rules of oil accumulation and no efficient methods of the sandbodies recognition and prediction in the 3rd section of Shahejie formation, which restricted the exploration process in this part. To optimize the use of the present data this paper studied the characteristics and rules of oil accumulation in Gubei slope belt and pointed that this kind of construction background of fault slope breaks influenced the forming of sands and oil- gas pools. Gubei slope belt lies near the deep sag zone which possessed the abundant resources, types of fan body reservoir, conduit system styles of “T”model and ladder model and sets of source reservoir caprock assemblages. The hydrocarbon accumulation modes in the fault slope breaks included two kinds of in-source and out-source and there are mainly the lithological reservoirs. The distribution of oil is heterogeneous, the oil-bearing layers are up and the lithological reservoirs gradually are turned into structural reservoirs from bottom towards top of the fault slope breaks. Laterally the oil was distributed by the sand bodies, nose structure and faults. It shows that the distribution of oil is mainly controlled by the lithology and the relation between the structure and lithology. It is essential to characterize the distribution of favorable reservoir for the oil exploration in the 3rd Section of Shahejie Formation. Using the advanced techniques such as attribute analysis and stochastic seismic inversion method aimed at reservoir description and prediction, which received satisfactory results. According to comprehensive analysis of Gubei slope belt, the targets were assessed and the favorable exploration locations and well target are predicted, which guides the exploration deployment straightly.
