Saponite is a special kind of rare clay minerals which possess enormous economic value. This kind of montmorilloint has also been found in Yushugou,Tuokexun county of Xinjiang,China. The deposit is located in synclinal fold area of South Tianshan, and the saponite is produced in siliceous limestone and silicified marble of Middle Devonian. The mine area can be divided into three orebodies, and the orebody Ⅲ is the biggest and the best industrial grade. These ore are still keep the original rock structure in general case,or showing scaly, muddy texture and banded or massive structure.Based on field observations, metallographic microscopic examination and geochemical testing. we have found that the deposit has two kinds of ore: Magnesium-saponite and Hectorite.Oxygen and Carbon isotopes dates showing the ore-forming fluid is the mixture of magmatic water and underground water obviously. Finally the two kinds of ore are distinguished based on the two diffirent mineral source.
