The five indicators:water,food, health, education and energy, which look like the five fingers of people, combined to form "A-Five-Finger-Alliance". Although the number of water on earth is huge, the water is very few which can be used directly in the production and life of people. The fresh water on earth accounts for only 2.5% of the total water resources, and 87% of the fresh water resources is difficult to use in this rare freshwater resources. The rest of the sea water salty and bitter, not drinking, not water, is also difficult for industry. In recent years, with the rapid expansion of population and expansion of industrial and agricultural production scale, the amount of global fresh water consumption fast growth. At the same time, the quality of water worsened because of the massive pollution of water by people. By 2025, there will be 30 million people lacking of water. Shortage of freshwater resources has grown into a global problem. In recent years, the reverse osmosis desalination technology continues to develop. The system covers a small area and need simple operation process, relatively low investment cost and operation cost. So that the market share of it is increasing. At the same time, with the development of renewable energy technology, wind power and solar power generation technology has made a series of achievements. The coastal areas and islands region are one of the serious regins of shortage of fresh water. Not only has the huge demand of desalination, but also wind and solar energy are rich in there and own the natural conditions of new energy development and utilization. Using new energy drive reverse osmosis desalination, is an effective measure to solve water shortage in coastal and island area. " A-Five-Finger-Alliance " era is up coming, we need to put these five elements together. Combining the new energy and desalination, not only solves the lack of fresh water, but also can reduce environmental pollution caused by traditional energy sources.For this reason, this paper studied the reverse osmosis method driven by the new energy and established the mathematical model of the whole system as well as established the mathematical model of the whole system and validated the accuracy of reverse osmosis system design preliminary. It used HOMER software directly optimization design and analysis the power system and got the better project. At the same time, the results of simulating test are detailed analyzed and supply Clear direction for the relevant research.Firstly, this paper reviews the major desalination technology and related integration technology, as well as all kinds of ways of coupling new energy with desalination and the research status of them. Besides, it introduces the mainstream desalination technology and the related integration technology.Next, the reverse osmosis seawater desalination system driven by new energy divided into two big modules for in detail--the module of the hybrid wind /solar power plant and the reverse osmosis desali nation system. The former, describes the distribution and the correspo nding calculation method of wind and solar energy and founds the m athematical models of system, as well as explains the evaluation met hod of wind and solar energy. Besides, we can get the corresponding solar radiation data by METEONORM software and HOMER softwa re. With wind energy resource assessment by WEIBULL distribution, the paper combined the NASA database and the collected wind data with the HOMER software and got average hourly wind speed data during a year which provide the basis for another section below. The latter explains water-intake way, pre-treatment process, desalination pa rt and post-treatment of the reverse osmosis water system in detail.Finally, the paper combined the natural resources and the demand for water of the three small gate island regions and designed the off-grid project--the reverse osmosis seawater desalination system driven by wind and solar systems. Not only designing seawater desalination system engineering design, but also matching design of wind and solar power according to the demand of the load system. In order to reduce investment cost in the system, this paper adopted HOMER software to optimize the capacity of the independent wind power system、the independent PV power system and the wind/solar hybrid power system and determined the best project in the case.The research innovation and characteristics are as follows:(1) Different from the traditional seawater desalination technology, this paper adopted the new energy to drive desalination, established the mathematical model of the whole system, and matched the power generation system and seawater desalination system.Besides, it use software(IMS Design) simulation to verify.(2) To evaluate the resource of project implementation, it combined the NASA database,meteorological data and the corresponding software, and make full use of the use of METEOMORM software, PVSYST software and HOMER software.(3) Directly using HOMER software to optimize the new energy power generation system so that the amount of computation system are greatly reduced.In short, using renewable energy drive desalination device, can improve the water supply of island residents and has social benefits; as well as setting a foundation for island tourism development and has economic benefits; besides, reduce the pollution of the environment of the problems of traditional energy generation and has environmental benefits.
