Nowadays, the remote sensing software commonly used is weak in change detection of remote sensing images relatively. After necessarily pre-processing the images, we should pick appropriate change detection algorithms to do the remote sensing change detection and output the final test results. So we need a special software system which could be used to detect the changes automatically. To address this issue, research at home and abroad about the technique of automatic change detection is firstly summarized and then detailed analysis of the detective process is made to design a system to finish the procedure. Based on the analysis of the former algorithms, some new image-processing algorithms are raised to support the development of this automatic change detection software by using the IDL language. The system developed here comprise these main functional parts such as input and output, geometry correction, radiation enhancement and matching, change detection and interpretation of human-computer interaction. In this article, I firstly introduced the whole structure of the system, and then described the algorithm of each processing module and made some relative sample analysis. On the basis of this system, the development of mineral in Huludao, LiaoNing province revealed in the remote sensing images were detected and interpreted human-computer interactively, and then the test results were analyzed according to the field survey data. It is gratifying to note that the system meets the demand of usual image change detection and qualitative and positioning analysis very well. This also testified the effectiveness and feasibility of the automatic change detection system.
