The Sino-Korean craton is one of the most representative ancient cratons as well as an important metallogenic province in China. Abundant information on the early history of the Earth’s evolution is preserved within this Early Precambrian craton. Therefore, it is of great significance to study the tectonic subdivision, tectonic evolution as well as mineral distribution in the craton.Based on sufficient collection of previous data and field investigation, this paper discusses the tectonic framework and mineral distribution in the“Liaoning-Jilin-North Korea”Paleoproterozoic fold belt. Some new achievements in the paper are as follows:1.Based on the geological evidences and according to the theories of plate tectonics, we have further subdivided the“Liaoning-Jilin-Korea”, and have meanwhile described in details the geological characteristics of each subdivisions. The tectonic framework of the Early Precambrian in the area is therefore set up. Meanwhile, we have analyzed the similarities and differences of the Precambrian tectonic divisions between Liaoning-Jilin areas in China and the North Korea. All these efforts have laid a sound basis for us to probe into the regional geological evolution of the studied areas and their relationship with the metallogenesis.2. Combining the studies on the regional mineral resources and some typical mineral deposits, we have preliminarily classified the metallogenic series in the area and discussed the main ore-controlling factors. On the basis of studies on the regional tectonic evolution, we have primarily summarized the tectonic controls on the distribution of the mineral resources. Several types of the typical Paleoproterozoic deposits and main mineral resources include, e.g. lead-zinc deposits, iron deposits, and boron and magnesium deposits. All these results have significantly contributed to further exploration of mineral resources in the Liaoning-Jilin and North Korea areas. The studies in this paper have, to some extent, widened our knowledge about the geological-metallogenetic conditions of the area from Liaoning to Jilin and North Korea, and will certainly enrich and deepen our recognitions on the metallogenesis both in China and in North Korea. Right on the sense of these aspects, we may say that this paper will help to urge the steps of China’s endeavors for exploration and exploitation of overseas mineral resources.
