Berthier described halloysite in the literature in1826. To commemorate the firstdiscoverers of halloysite, this kind of material was named halloysite(HNTs). However,since2006when America’s Natural Nano company put polypropylene/HNTs andnylon/HNTs composites to market, HNTs has aroused people’s attention. Thereby thiskind of nanotubes becomes the hot point of the research field of nano materials. Theadvantages of widely distributed,cheap and unique structure and properties makeHNTs widely used in ceramic reinforced, polymer enhanced, toughening and flameretardant, sustained release and other fields. But the research in other fields of HNTsis very few. Therefore development of HNTs in other fields has certain research value.At present, sulfur pollution is an urgent task to solve the problem. In addition tothe hydrodesulfurization and biological desulfurization, adsorption desulfurization hasalways been the focus of the research and development. Thus developing newdesulfurization agent is a key point in this field of research.This paper,using halloysite nanotubes as the research object,exploredabsorption efficacy in the field of adsorption desulfurization to meet the needs of theabove-mentioned two aspects. The study found HNTs show good desulfurizationperformance. HNTs after the heat treatment can change its desulfurization effect andwhen the temperature is540℃,it presents processing the best desulfurization effect.Intercalationr as well as load different metal oxide on the halloysite nanotubes alsocan affect the desulfurization effect. Thermal stability and acid stability of HNTs werecomprehensive discussed in this paper.For this new kind of kaolin nanotubes, thesis studied the preparation.Experimental results show that this nanotube is a kind of nanotubes which is differentfrom halloysite nanotubes. By the contrast analysis of molecular sieves and kaolinnanotubes, this kind of nanotube which shows good desulfuration property is expectedto become a new generation of efficient adsorption desulfurization agent.
